Although it's not from the main game it does "spoil" many things such as the gameplay mechanics and the monster - things you would expect a demo such as this to showcase. Were you guys equally angry at this video? I bet not, and this was months before release. So either admit that you have an irrational hatred of Pewdiepie or an irrational fear of any spoilers no matter how minor. I'm going to refrain from watching the video but you guys are being absolutely ridiculous. Personally, I think the importance of not seeing the enemies in horror games is grossly overstated. It helps, but you guys act as if the entire game is rendered totally ineffectual by catching a mere glimpse of it (I assume) prior to playing.
I was wondering when somebody would bring this up - you took your time!
Do remember that three years ago things were VERY different - practically NOBODY had heard of AAMFP so Frictional had to try and garner as much attention as they could without spending a fortune on marketing. The video that you linked to (and others) and the demo was their solution. It helped but it didn't immediately pull in millions of eager punters - it took time and a few months before sales became really good and word of mouth spread as to just how great a game it was. Sales then picked up tremendously.
Now things are very different - practically everyone knows that AAMFP is on the way so it's really not necessary to release a demo of any sort prior to release. The two trailers we've had over the past year are quite sufficient to do the job - hardly anything is spoiled by them and we don't have to suffer PDP screaming his head off either.
Grab yourself a drink and read the following Frictional blogs on the history of ATDD and its release and early sales - they are very interesting:
