Dear Mrs. Weis,

I am grateful for the expeditious reply, and am relieved to hear your confirmation that the aforementioned rumors were not a topic of concern. However, a small investigation within our technical department discovered the source of the rumors. On a terminal co-operated by Cathy Karim, a project leader in that department, and a liaison of Carthage Industries named Steven Abreu, Ms. Karim discovered a newsletter addressed to Carthage employees. (attached)

Let me first state that it is not Utica policy to intercept confidential communication between Carthage personnel, and I hope you find it to your satisfaction that Ms. Karim has been appropriately disciplined. However, the contents of that newsletter were too concerning to ignore, and I seek your comment on this. The newsletter suggests that the SCZM project involves AI professionals. I'm sure I do not need to remind you that the research and development of artificial intelligence is a strictly regulated science, and necessitates full transparency on the part of involved parties in accordance with Coalition Law.

As it turns out, I am scheduled to meet with some potential clients in Lisbon soon, and would be glad to meet with David over a meal to discuss these matters, if he is willing.
