How do you make part of a model glassy?

Hello,

I have been trying to make part of my model have a glass texture applied to it. I know this is possible as some of the lanterns on the wall have the glass applied to them. I attempted to create a material, but applying the material to the seperate glass polygon did not do anything... it still used the texture information from the whole model. I tried to make the texture for the glass part transparent in my dds then apply the material, nothing. I tried to make it glassy in Maya, then export it, nope.

There doesn't seem to be a material associated with the lamp in question (entities/lamps/hanging_wall, or something) and there are no .dds files...

There is only a .dae and a .msh.

I imported the .dae into Maya, but it lost its texture and appeared all gray :S

Please, someone explain this wizardry Sad
