I am still very unfamiliar with Maya, but as far as I know, it's easier to do in 3ds Max. The material editor is very visual; it lets you create a flowchart of your bitmaps and then drag it on to your viewport to apply the texture to the object of your choice.

Anyways, if you don't want to try that out, try this: Create two seperate mesh files, one for your glassy part and one for your non-glassy part. Apply the textures to them and export them seperately. Then place them seperately in the LevelEditor. This obviously will only work for static objects, but that's the only solution I can present, seeing as I'm still new to Maya.
