Heart  A sort of texturing tutorial [Intermediate(?) Users]

It's texthurring time!

I will be showing an example as a create textures for a wallpiece for my fullconversion "Spacies" for amnesia. It will be a metal texture, but you might find techniques usable on other types of textures as well. I am not professional in any way, so don't take my word on texturing as the ultimate truth. With this in mind let's move on to the tutorial!

Programs used:
I'll be using Maya, Photoshop and crazybump.

Brushes for photoshop can be found using google.

My mic creates quite a bit of static noise. I am also Swedish, so my english accent isn't perfect either. Hopefully you'll find me audiable and understandable.

You do not need to create a high poly model, as a beginner crazybump might do fine creating the normal map for you. As for baking an AO without a high poly model refer to this:

Alternatively; simply copy your model, add some divisions then some smoothing. Place Highpoly model on the same spot as the low poly model, you are good to go!
