You need internet connection to download the game.
I have a strong feeling that Googolplex's point of view is pretty much the same as I do.

After you buy the game, you shouldn't need internet to use it.
It would be nice add to the final product that you could use it online, but not actually forced to use it.
Just think the game as a dishwasher, tap or an oven.

After you bought the product, every time you want to do something with it, you would need to connect to the internet, update it with the latest firmware just to make sure you're not abusing the product you have paid for, and after that, the server is not available because internet hasn't existed since the year 2265 and now you're living in 3676.
So, you can't do anything about it but you're still thirsty, hungry and you have dirty dishes...
