How to link lever to 'safety' door?

I'm wanting to have one of those doors that requires you constantly turn a crank until the door has raised up high enough for you to slip through (think they are called safety doors?) but I dont really know how. I have an 'ok' knowledge about scripting and know how to use levers to unlock doors, but im not educated enough in scripting to figure this one out, so any help would be really appreciated?
