RoadKill is beautiful, especially for Maya-specific users like myself. I use it for pretty much all of my unwrapping, organic or inorganic, it works great for both.

Download plug-in can be found here. It works for 3DS Max as well, I believe, but like Traggey said, I think 3DS Max already has a pelt tool similar to what Roadkill does. Whereas Maya doesn't have one by default. (not sure about newer versions since 2012)
