I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

HEllo im new to scripting and all that jazz, and i cant find anything to help me with this.

I have a default script for a story im making and i want to add a command to make a key open a door. i found a goood one but i dont know where to put it! do i put it in the default script file? and if i do where! i tried putting it in the default script file and it didnt do anything! none of the tutorials are helping! they dont tell you where to put stuff! im so fusterated!
