Despite myself, I picked the dog from Penumbra: Overture. Even though I watched a series on it beforehand, it still terrified me. What really caused this morbid fear was an encounter I had on my second playthrough.
Spoiler below!
I was in the deeper part of the game, and I was skulking around the halls when I heard a faint noise. I turned around, and I saw a dog sprinting towards me whilst growling loudly. I cried out and paused the game, my heart beating frantically. I immediately exited the game and had to resist the urge to sleep with the lights on.
