I found it ironic that you just said those two things in the same sentence.

Saying that something doesn't exist in the lack of evidence makes more sense than saying it does. I didn't mean there are <absolutely> no aliens in our atmosphere, but I can rest comfortably knowing that there <probably> aren't any.

I had a problem with the expression "explanation" when you clearly meant assumption. Also you don't need evidence to assume that something is true. The point in my post above proves it, even if it is indefinite, it is slightly undoubtful.
