RE: Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs Discussion Topic Part 2

I've been lurking here for a while and I can say that I can't wait for the game to release too. I discovered Frictional Games with PewDiePie videos when Amnesia got released on Steam. I bought it instantly and I really loved the game. I did a first playthrough with a friend (because I couldn't play alone, it was my first experience on a horror game), and I did another one alone.

I left the game there for a couple of years until I discovered speedruns. I was always watching live speedruns of games on Twitch, and I saw an Amnesia speedrun. I got me really interested and I wanted to try it. I practiced a lot and now my personal best is 35 minutes and 10 seconds.

Developers seems to think that speedrunning is bad for their games, but I seriously love when there are a lot of possibilities to finish the game faster. Polishing everything and removing ALL glitches is kind of sad for a player like me, who like to do normal playthroughs and then having fun speedrunning it.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe Frictional Games saw some of our speedruns on Twitch or YouTube, and now they don't want to see us "break" their game, so they're trying to patch everything up. I don't believe they did that much polishing and tweaking on The Dark Descent, since they didn't see how far can speedrunners go. But actually, the glitches we find doesn't spoil the experience of other players. I didn't have any glitches in my first playthroughs.

I don't really care either if they still want to delay it. I'm a big fan of their games now, and if they still think the game isn't ready, well what can we do? It's their game after all. I'm pretty sure they want it to be perfect, even if it won't be. Simply because no game can reach perfection, or almost.

Welcome to the forums.
