It gave me new weird ideas about the plot.

I posted a photo of the trophy room earlier. If it's Oswald's, it tells that he travels around the world to hunt big game. There is an animal missing, which is one of the rarest cats on earth - the black jaguar. According to one website, even today, no one has been able to photograph one in the wild. Surely Oswald would want that kind of a creature to his collection?

I mentioned Lacandon Jungle in Mexico before. Of course present day and year 1899 is a little different, but "Lacandon is still the largest montane rainforest in North America and one of the last ones left large enough to support jaguars" (wikipedia).

Lacandon Jungle also has some other aspects. In addition to tons of Mayan archeological sites, there lives a certain group of people:

"The Lacandon are one of the Maya peoples who live in the jungles of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The Lacandon are one of the most isolated and culturally conservative of Mexico's native peoples. While other Indians were living under the control of the Spanish, the Lacandon lived independently deep in the tropical forest." Only since the last 30-40 years (1970+) they have been starting to be in more contact with outsiders. There have been all kinds of stories about their religious practises. They have also mixed Catholic stuff to Mayan practises.

The jaguar (especially the black one) is super-sacred creature for the Mayans. Perhaps Oswald hunted the wrong creature.

Also. Waaay back in this thread someone linked a pic of a wooden pig idol (before me). That was a Chiapas mask.

Glad that you liked Apocalypto. Smile Also another awesome theory you posted about the purpose of Oswalds trip to mexico (to hunt the panther). However, FG described Oswalds trip as an expedition. I don't think you can describe hunting as an expedition, right? It must be some kind of research or exploration purpose.

Also.. either I am blind or... I can't spot a place for the jaguar in the trophy room picture. Big Grin
