2: On Dead Space, you have A LOT of (powerful) guns and med kits and stuff. you feel a lot safer, then.

Don't forget that ammo is barely even a concern in Dead Space, which was one thing that System Shock 2 and the early Resident Evils used pretty well to increase the scare factor. Nothing back then was even close to being as scary as running out of ammo or having your gun jam while hybrids chased you down yelling "KILL ME!" and "I'm ... sorry!"
