I recently created a video for a school media project and I decided to also upload it to youtube. It's a top 10 list of FRICTIONAL's ten scariest creatures(in my opinion).

This is the first video I've created so I would love some feedback and critique as I have just started a media course that is focused on web-based media production and marketing.

Tanooki “My Alone” inspired by: SOMA

I while ago I played “SOMA” and I really liked it…mainly the story was something that made an impact on me and left me with a lot of “WTF” moments. Then, a few weeks ago, I started watching “West World” and that made me think about this game again and well….I decided to write this track.

It’s called “My Alone” because of the storyline and the experience of the main character and/or you (the player).

Focusing on loneliness, emptiness, clinically, technically, confusion and threats while still finding the strength and power to carry on.

These are also the reasons why I decided to bury the bass in with the guitars and keep a certain “warmth” out of the song. Which might seem like a shame with such a talented dude as Desmond Kuijk providing these lows….but I just like to tell a certain story and set a certain mood and this is what I found to be contributing better too said mood.

Yes, it's something totally different from SOMA's music but that's because I didn't want to recreate that. The work of Mikko Tarmia is perfect so this is really just me being inspired by the game/audio and basically paying homage.

Hope you'll like it.

Cheers

Crash-Headroom Presents: Delusional Machinery [Now Finished]

Greetings Everyone!

My names Crash Headroom. Been a long time fan of Frictional Games, I tried Amnesia on a friend's steam account back when it came out and wanted to get into it...then SOMA was created.

I absolutely loved the game from start to finish, so much so I started to make some music based around it. The idea started out as just a couple of tracks I was mixing up (drum & bass), before long I added so many samples, sound effects and dialogue I thought...give my self a challenge, I'll create a concept album.

It tells a loose version of the game's story, however for flow (and obviously reading purposes) i've had to cut out, shrink down or streamline alot of parts (for example the way Simon works his way through the Curie will be far different). On top of this I also added a couple of cut concepts back to the story, such as the possesed suit back in upsilon (ive used this element in the prologue pages), as well as Akers' speech in theta.

Edit: The Album is now finished! Atleast as best I can do:

Full Playlist:

Yes, each track has 2 names. The first being the story name, second is the one given in it's creation.

Also, here are some tests for the cover art and story manual:

Booklet Front:
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.co...9AA1F61B1/

Booklet Back:

Page ??? Title art for Track 08: Provide a New Body
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.co...3C3E3746F/

Not all the tracks I created are from scratch. For story and flow purposes I took multple game tracks and mixed them up together, plus must used were taken from the "Unused" folder.

Well, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did making it. I also mix up old game soundtracks as well as pieces from games that never make it into them, here are several other playlists i've fiddled with in the past (except for Toxis Residuum's soundtrack which was Jenkins08):

GTA V Mixes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1jAP5YI...dz05WCUjXP

Not all the tracks I created are from scratch. For story and flow purposes I took multple game tracks and mixed them up together, plus must used were taken from the "Unused" folder.

Well, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did making it. I also mix up old game soundtracks as well as pieces from games that never make it into them, here are several other playlists i've fiddled with in the past (except for Toxis Residuum's soundtrack which was Jenkins08):

Hello!
I have composed a little piece called "Darkness". As an inspiration I used the speech of the machine which he gave in the streets towards the end of the game:

"Redeem yourselves! Redemption is at hand! Enter the cleansing and set your souls free! For you are born into filth and will die as pigs. Only through my redemption can you ascend to the skies and claim the heavens as your kingdom. Fall on your knees! Ashes, ashes, bones and ashes. For the pile will reach critical and we can have such a burning that this city will shine as a beacon of redemption for the world!"

Tell me what you think about the piece. It was composed, orchestrated and produced during one evening. I used Cubase 5 and Halion Sonic SE2 sample bank for producing the track.

Also, I am interested of any opportunity to compose for a custom story. If you are looking for composer, or if you know somebody who's looking for a composer, please contact me.
I've watched some underwater gameplay and saw a encounter with something which had lights or LED lamps instead of eyes so inspired by that made some biomechanical sea creature(used Krita and Gimp).
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1345...itled3.png

Concept for the new gameplay type
So, this is a suggestion/idea for additional gameplay mechanics for maybe SOMA DLC,mod or new Frictional IP
because SOMA is content locked. But, I'll support whatever Frictional give us.

Gameplay is sectioned in layers.
It is the player's choice how will they play. If they want Amnesia experience, layer 1 ensures it. If they want more control, layer 2 gives them control.

Layer 1: Good old Amnesia stealth type of run and hide gameplay we all know. If the player chooses that.

Layer 2: Control type. This layer gives player more freedom how to tackle encounters. At his disposal there are throwable concotions and items based of SOMA lore. We'll call them "bombs".

1) Flask of inductance: this bomb has EMP effect on mechanical creatures to sttuter their bioelectronical circuits. It has blast radius when triggered.
But, when creature is awake again, it is faster and angrier to get you. Be careful.
You'll have to find cover and hide also. (made in Gimp)
AOE effect

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCCX_Had...e=youtu.be (Blender)

2)Draught of the Flame: very rare to find this concoction, maybe one or two in the whole game. When thrown on enemy, it immobilizes it instantly. You'll have to solve some puzzle contraption to get it .It's very well hidden. It doesn't damage the gameplay experience if there will be more encounters. It has dissolving and kinda flame effect on creatures based on the lore. (made in Blender with particles)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeHtvV2gWz0
It could be also a frost type bomb. We are underwater at last.

3)Phial of delirium: If there will be organical cretures in game world, this ensures they'll damage and occupy other creature in the room while you must quickly get out. If you get to close, you''re done becase it has wild AOE effect.
(made in Blender)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aET2XppLzQ

4)Soulfire: the erosion gun (Yes, actual gun it the game)
It fires bullet with chemical components which dissolves on creature gradually and makes them walk slower for a moment. It does not kill them. Bullets are hard to find in the game world. It could have other ammo types. It has AOE effect because of chemical reaction.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUUVa2RMK90
Other type of erosion effect (Blender particles)

5) Harpoon/crossbow: only for underwater areas. It can not damage creatures. It delivers, through the water, some of the philters. For example, if you attach on the projectile flask of inductance, it delivers it at high speed with AOE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKQZF2T1...e=youtu.be

6)Achievements: there could be online list of players who didn't use any of items(top rating),
and also achievement if you found all rare items and solved all puzzles.

Tell me what do you think of layer 2 or if you have other suggestions. Is there a way to make it more sci-fi/steampunk?
Layer 2 has RPG components. It is not designed to ruin the game. It just adds more control to the player but with side effects. Plus, items are hard to get. You'll have to explore the environment and solve puzzles to get them and find out how to unlock doors. So, the gameplay could be balanced quite a lot. The game could have wider audience with RPG players but won't loose Amnesia athmosphere because of the layer 1.

SOMA logo(Blender)

Hastur the kraken (Apophysis)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1345...0912-k.png

Hello,

While playing Amnesia I thought it was difficult to follow the storyline since I was more busy with being scared as hell.
So I thought it would be awesome if there was some video just of the story told. I didn't found one so I did one myself.
I'm quite new to these forums, and even though it's a bad manner to start right away with sharing some YouTube video, I want to show it anyway. I put a lot of work into it, I didn't expect it would take that long.

I'm not sure how this is going to go down, but it couldn't hurt to try.

I think if anything, I'll use this as a chance to make a small introduction; You can already see the name, but what you don't see is the things I do, one of them being voice acting. Or at least, I blurt weird voices into a microphone then show the internet the results.
... I can haz professionalism?

Anyway, as you'll see from the title of this thread, you'll have worked out by now what my latest project is I doubt anyone here would be familiar with my previous work on YouTube, but just in case you would be then this must seem like quite the stretch...

Right now, there is a trailer for it available here:

In all honesty, I know the equipment I have isn't exactly top of the line & I know I don't really sound like either of the characters, but this isn't some 5 minute job I've been working on with a headset & Windows Movie Maker. If anything, this could (and probably should) be considered a fandub. However, there's a considerable amount to this one, both length & detail. In other words, this is a completely straight faced attempt at trying to mimic some of the finest voice acting there is in a game to date in my opinion. Easily side by side with Bioshock.

I could go into a lot more detail about this, but for now I'll just stick with presenting this trailer & see how it fares with anyone that might be interested.
