Good program to create music?

Any recommendations to a good program?

I don't want to use other people's work. And asking somebody to compose one for me would be to much trouble on their part.

I really want to make a low creepy/scary ambience music for a large graveyard I'm making. (sorry Rigi u gotta wait Tongue)

I like Prøpellerhead's Reason plus some extra orchestra instrument libraries, it can really get that natural, Amnesia-ish sound without a bunch of fakey-synths.

Also another fun way to make creepy soundscapes is taking existing or recorded audio and running it through this: http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/

I use FL Studio. It offers a lot of stuff and it is the easiest commercial DAW i've come across.

I've used both Reason and FL Studio. Reason is good with its presets, but if you can get your hands on some of the high quality VSTs, FLStudio is much better in my opinion.

I also recommend FL Studio. It's not too difficult to learn how to use, even if you have no experience in music.

If you can get your hands on Omnisphere, it has a HUGE array of atmospheric sample instruments. The thing is like 50+ gigs and over 7000 different sounds or something. I think Mikko might of used some of them; I found a lot of the same sounds in this VST.

And yea, FL is really good, though it's all I've ever used so I don't have anything to compare it against.

I'm actually using a iMac's Garageband now, it does good enough for me.

I would like to get the others, but when I saw some of the price tags. Almost $275 was the lowest I researched and I stopped at Reason 5 for $349. Ouch.

So I'm sticking with the iMac for the time being. No need for movie level quality yet. Thanks for the input guys Smile

Any of you guys know a cool, nice and easy, free music creator? xD

I tried Reason with the 20 minute demo, and I think it's cool. Tongue

Audacity is the only free tool i've heared of... There was something else I use, but it's not really for creating music, it's more for editing and recording it... You can have a look if you want, just search 'Reaper' in google.

With reaper you'll probably need to be able to play an instrument, unless you can make strange noises into the mic, then edit them heavily to make it sound ambient Wink

But saying that - Rapture's using Garage band, and that's not too different to Reaper, so maybe it will work! Good Luck Smile

Free ones tend to lack a lot of things and tend to be buggy. Here's one i know of:
http://lmms.sourceforge.net/

If you save often, you could probably make something with it.
