I was just looking at some screenshots of Penumbra Overture, and came across some concept art, and this screenshot of a monster that never made it to the final version.

I was wondering if someone could enlighten me, with the story behind this guy... he is pretty creepy looking

You know the rock worms you see in the game? They have a mouth very alike with the creature in that picture. Maybe it is the result of some genetic experiment? Maybe the people in the shelter are guinea pigs?

yea, finaly i would see some dead/undead/alive but about to die humans, or their bodys, i felt a bit lonely in those mines, i finaly could find dead bodys to talk with, to toss them or hit with hammer

That monster was orignally in the TECH DEMO, but was NOT FINISHED (model is finished, animations aren't) DUE TO ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS LEAVING (he worked on the monster)

Once again, that monster WAS NOT MADE for EPISODE 1.

Besides, it is stated clearly in one of the projection room files that the rock worms are a normal species of worm, but something in the mine is increasing their size. A theory of a lack of predators is stated, but I'm guessing it's the strange gas.

...to work, could it be impossibility to make Hunter to work right?
'Cause if it needs only animations I think that it's not a big deal to do them by the modeler of the other enemies.

When a little rock worm or what crawling into a human, the human start mutating and become a 'Hunter'? I know you don't finished it, but the likeness beetwen the rock worm and hunter is strange.

My suggestion is that there could be few bigger spiders.

'Cause there is those Spider Eggs, but no another, bigger spider, that makes them.

Those eggs are kinda big, so it would be cool if the other Spider is much bigger than the originals!
