dont start another flame war with your opinions that you present as facts.
Anyway, blizzard has never made a bad game. They sure take their sweet time on their games, considering how most of the development cycles are over 5 years long.
Don't spam this thread again, thanks!
You see, it's not important how many people working how many years on a game.
Best example: Frictional Games
They are only 4 people when working on Penumbra Overture and they finished it during 8 months (as I understand right).
Blizzard never did a credible game. They make games for big mass. This is why they are successful, not because of the goodness of their games.
I think, they are heroes in making monster smashing games with magic weapons and hack n slay fighting.
But they failed in immersing, story and credibility - the most important things!
See games like Battlefield, mega successful, but there isn't any thing you could define as art.
Yes, it uses great technologies and war atmosphere, but the core game is for big mass fun.
You can call it a good game, but I call it not for me!
Same as blizzard games, they failed to make RPGs.
The only both masters are PiranhaBytes and CD-PROJEKT.
In the end, you're still comparing a Risen game to Diablo.
They are two different genres of games. Yes they may have faintly similar themes I suppose, but in the end they are two entirely different entities that shouldn't be lined up next to eachother.
Comparing Diablo to Risen is like comparing David Bowie to a cactus. They have NOTHING in common and shouldn't be held up on the same podium.
Diablo is a hack n' slash, loot whoring, dungeon crawling game.
Risen is an action adventure RPG.
You make good points but your argument just doesn't make sense. Salamanders.
I know they are completely different genres of games. I mean, there is nothing common.
But all the guys are praising Diablo 3 as the best RPG and when I hear "RPG" I think it is not the best.
Risen 2 also is a RPG, no matter that it is completely different.
But OK, I just wanted to mentione that, not start a discussion which game is better.
Sorry if you felt offended, I don't take this discussion forward.
Diablo 2 is the absolute pinnacle when it comes to ARPGs, so it seems unlikely to me that Blizzard will be able to match it with anything else (though I'd be happy if I'm wrong). I do think Diablo 3 will be a good game, but the inclusion of always-online DRM is making me a bit hesitant as well. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be a game you always play online anyway, but multiplayer has never really been my schtick, so this is a pretty big drawback.
