that could be it. I recall near the end, I believe it has to do with the second worm encounter; that you can't re-enter that area. it becomes "locked". if memory serves anyway. I do know something that you did enter is now locked.
maybe the foundation is bad and the door just closes on its own? I dont know.

Yeah, I just figured something about the main plot of the Penumbra games. Don't worry about reading it, it doesn't contain any acual details about the storyline - just a hint.

Have anyone of you checked what a Penumbra is?
Penumbra is the area inbetween light and dark, a half-lit place. Ever seen anyone standing on a large lit soccer-area and he/she gets several half-dark shadows? I guess you'd call those penumbras.
So, in the note in this game it sais an entire world exists inbetween light and dark, in other words inside the penumbra.
So, from this I'm guessing there will be some sort of shadow-portal in the game and all these zombies and overgrown worms aren't caused by the gas - or possibly the gas comes from penumbra.
Anyhow, before now I've never really thought about the games name but now I'm really excited about it. I hope it turns out well.

Noted that strange twisted-plant on the "strange corridor" picture on the homepage? Noted how it's not in a pot? Looks like darkness leaking out of the floor to me. If anyone have played Shadow of the Colossus, think the shadow that comes out of the slain colossi.
Pehaps there will be some "crawling dark" in this game?
By the way, on Philip: in the first developers diary it sais he's a scientist. It might just be a geek-reference, but yet. In Overture he sais he's seen steam blister flesh from bone.. sounds like something average-Joe wouldn't experience.

This could be considered a mega-spoiler, or not since it's from the demonstration video. I took a screenshot of the humanoid creature with the flashlight and ran some filters on it so it's visible. I didn't otherwise edit it. I think it's quite freaky looking myself, frankly.

Clearly not alien - and there have confirmedly been an infection going around in our favourite Greenlandish mine lately. Don't white about spoiling there, the games name sais it all.

That Mr. Light are indeed artifacts, and that those infected ones are carrying them.

About the last door what I was talking about... When you try to open the door again, it says: The door's locked, it slammed shut behind me.

So I was right that someone shutted it! But who..?
