Help in machine room

I'm in the machine room, and there's a door that has a "crude lock" preventing me from passing it. And there's a valve that's stuck that I can't turn.

Any hints of what I'm supposed to do to get through the door?

find the pipe nearby and drag it to the lock, then grab it and force the lock open with a quick sideways movement of the pipe
