So I'm guessing by the lack of a LP sub-forum that that petition idea never took off?

Well, it is uncertain just how busy the admins are with AAMFP. Jens did mention that they tend to get rather busy near the end of the development cycle. I've just been assuming that they'll have more time to sort this all out after the release of AAMFP.
