Blender isn't such a bad program for Modeling, animating like everyone else says can be a issue because of exporting problems. But if you just want to Model objects, it's a good fallback option if you don't use Maya/3Ds Max.

You do not mention rigging. Rigging + Animating + Modelling will make your mind go crazy in 2 years.
