RE: Amnesia Nightmare

I mostly get insomnia and the fear that a monster will pop out from nowhere, so I close the doors behind me(lol).
But I've had zombie apocalypse like dream where I'd just kick, punch and shoot zombies, it was sooo much fun! and I wasn't scared which was weird.

I wonder how long did it took you to make up this story with the nightmare

RE: Amnesia Nightmare

I dreamt of being in the Amnesia game.. It was this EPIC map.
As soon as I woke up I wrote and drew as much of it as I could recall.
Gonna start making a custom story based off it when AMFP comes out Tongue

Everyone dreams. You just don't remember them. Dreaming is a way for the brain process what has happened during the day.

RE: Amnesia Nightmare

I'm pretty sure that is common experience with most Amnesia players, especially us young folks. I posted that message/thread 2 years ago, and I'm sure it sums up the "Amnesia dream experience" pretty well.

Quote:I wanna congratulate Frictional Games not only for their technical
work on Amnesia, but also for the strong symbolism they added to it. This game can be
considered as a virtual projection and containment of our own Shadow.
I thought the main reason why we emphasize on immersion with a game like this is because we have to allow our subconscious behavior to respond to the events as if it were real. Once we open these doors, it begins to play a major role in the government of our
own decisions and directions in the game and fear can build up rapidly. It portrays a great relationship between our conscious mind and our subconscious mind.

At the beginning, my fear was overwhelming and I told myself not to play the game anymore. It went that way for about a month and a half in my mind, but I knew deep down I was
missing out on something really interesting. After allowing myself to play the game despite fear, that's when I started to make dreams about the game and that's when I realized the role of our subconscious; while I was playing the game, it captured all these images, it recorded all of my feelings and it created a chemistry, a story that it would later express in the way it always did : DREAMS !

I often found myself inside the game,
in front of certain obstacles and I had to lurk in the dark hallways of
my own hell. One time I dreamed I was trapped in a dark hallway, in
front of many monsters that I couldn't see and the environement was
totally identical to Amnesia's. These "nightmares" made me so captivated by this game afterwards, I now just couldn't stop playing. It was amazing, because I came to
personal realizations through it. It helped me understand parts of myself I wouldn't allow myself to relate to in any other way or medium; it made me realize I
was trying too often to repulse my own fears and defaults, always hoping
my life would go alright and without any sort of suffering.

With the substances of "video-gaming" and Amnesia, it made it the perfect alchemy and these dreams were - by far - the most interesting dreams
I've ever had at the time. I could only be grateful to that whole experience, to find myself in relation with deep and
strange archetypes and symbols (one time, the Grunt was actually replace by a giant
dear, with deep and black eyes).
I fuckin' love you guys at Frictional.
