Attention programmers, I am stuck on some Computing homework...

Does anyone know what self-contained functions and procedures means?

Also, why might global variables introduce bugs?

I am totally lost with these questions, can't find answers anywhere.

No idea. You aren't very specific though. What programming language?

At this point, I can only take educated guesses. Also, I can't think of why Google wouldn't have the answers unless it's specific to a textbook. If that's the case, you should have access to a textbook, or at least know where to find one?

Global variables can accidentally be changed, I come across that in the text book.

It mentioned that functions and procedures ARE self-contained but it didn't actually say what it mean't.

In class we use VB, but in this book I think its Pascal... confusing for a beginner like me.
