I'm curious about this. Would a website be able to detect patterns of key presses or mouse clicks which are deemed suspicious as if it were done by a computer? Would it, for example, detect
exactly where mouse clicks occur or how much time between clicks, etc.
I've never known there to be macro detecting software, just keylogging. I've also only known of macro creation, either through Microsoft Access or Word, or through Mozilla Firefox/Chrome (making use of
iMacros).
I'm somewhat curious, as I have seen a rule on a gaming website which forbids it, however it is also somewhat interactive. Some web pages involve a map which you walk your player through, whereas others are actual web pages where you simulate events.
Edit: The website also, every once in a while, makes use of captcha. Would that be the main strategy to use to deter macro use?
