Screen Recording Problems

hey I am trying to screen record Penumbra and I am using Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 and for some reason when I try to record it doesn't record the game but the desktop background. It works when I try to record other games just not Penumbra. What should I do?

Try using screen capture like snipping tool.

Snipping tool will take a screenshot of your computer, not record it into a video.

Try using another recording tool there is many on internet like Fraps,Bandicam,Action etc...

How is it that encoder hooks into fullscreen games?

I assume it's a difference in how it hooks into games.

Beyond that I've no idea beyond telling you to try another tool.

I second that, unless you can run Nvidia ShadowPlay. It kicks all the asses.

(You need a certain type of Geforce card and other requirements.)

OBS ( Open Broadcaster software ) , great software for both recording and streaming, and it's free. No need to pirate or buy expensive licenses.

This. Takes a bit of time to get it set up and around the GUI. But it is wonderful otherwise.
