I know better and there is no merit to the word of other members who have thoughts on the matter.

My attitude is fine. The attitude of you and others who prefer speculating and wasting time is not.

I noticed I've already written that in 2012. Why does no developer pay attention?

If you really do know better, you are allowed to point out in a reasonable fashion where and why exactly what they have said may not be useful or even just out right say that you would prefer not to speculate and just wait for the devs to give word on this.

The key thing here is to be polite instead of condescending towards what other members point out (Even if you choose not to regard it)

Not being polite will really only hamper your road to achieving the information you desire as others will be less willing to help you in this matter.

My statements are always reasonable. I am very polite contrary to you. In fact, being or not being polite will not hamper the road to achieving the information I desire as I neither desire information from bystanders nor are bystanders even able to help do what I - and presumable many others - want.

I am going to justify the closing of this thread with reasonable arguments. Please continue to discuss this with myself via a Personal Message if you disagree.

First of all, yes - I am a foreigner. I will accept that I am a foreigner, however, my question is an attempted answer of your question for discussion. I will admit I am not very knowledgeable about hardware, yet constraints when dealing with compatibility, cost, effort, time and a large number of problems come to mind when developing a game. Just because something works on one computer does not necessarily work on another; and as Mudbill contributed to the conversation earlier:

(10-05-2015, 12:27 PM)Mudbill Wrote: DirectX is Windows only, and so if they were to create the game using it, they would lose their availablility for OS X/Linux distros, something I'm sure they're quite fond of.

It's fine to want something done, but you can't expect your wish to be granted without questions.

There is a decision in the analysis stage of the Problem Solving Methodology which discusses what Software Requirements are necessary, and dealing with constraints comes shortly after. A constraint Frictional Games would have faced prior to development this time is Operating System compatibility, which, as Mudbill states, is purely Windows only - and the best way to circumvent this to look at making the design phase efficient; it is likely too much effort to maintain Direct X compatibility and their current sound system.

Sure - there are workarounds; Direct X for Windows and Mac/Linux get whatever else, but how does that conform to Mac and Linux users? Then again, what serious difference does it make? They're sounds. They will not break your immersion; the only thing that will deter that whole sense of immersion any more would be to play the game on mute, which does not work. There are over 2,000 distinct footstep sounds in SOMA. Direct X will not alter these sounds differences in any way, because we don't listen to what the sounds sound like, we just need to know they are there.

As Nice mentioned, remember you are posting to a forum. You are expressing your opinion in a public space and you will be expected to socialise to some extent with manners, respect and being accepting and inviting of other users opinions. There are not many rules in this forum, but they can be summed up as, pardon my swearing, Don't be a dick, and historically, you have not been the greatest of speakers and accepting of others' opinions, having some of your threads closed and claiming to have posts hijacked.

I recommend you take this issue further with one of the developer moderators. You can find one here under the Administrators tab. https://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/showteam.php If you feel that what I have said has been unethical or unfair to you, and you wish to discuss any problems with why SOMA lacks DirectX support, you're more likely to get a response directly from them than what you are here.

I am closing the thread. Like I stated earlier, please feel free to take this issue further with me or one of the administrators.
