RE: Size of the game?
I like how Scraper deleted my post correcting his error and edited his.
Only 800-900 MB is very delightful. And the thing is everything I've seen of it looks great.
I've been wondering how big the new HD edition of Dear Esther will be. It looks fucking amazing, real in fact, but it apparently can run as well as one can run HL2-EP2.

But yeah, it's not very often you see a modern game with a size under a GB.
I remember when I bought Aliens Vs. Predators, I looked at the system requirements and the game is 18 GB!
I was like. O.O
18 GB? Wow, that's a LOT! I wonder what made the game that big? ^^

Well, if I have corrected the one missing letter on the post, I don't see why there should be a post right after telling me that my post is now correct. But since it bothers people so much, I edited my earlier post a bit...
@nackidno
Yeah, what ever, everyone makes mistakes.
But now, back to the topic.

RE: Size of the game?
All of the Penumbra games can be compressed together to about 900MB so maybe this is a hint of how much more variation in content Amnesia has, which is awesome.

Either that or they've gotten lazy with their compression.

RE: Size of the game?
Nah, Amnesia is just full of lots more win than Penumbra.
Not that Penumbra isn't full of win.

That, or the fact that the graphical update takes extra space. I prefer your theory though.

How do you fit so much win into such a small amount of space?
They have only a few textures and focus more on lighting effects. Much more effective for horror games. The repetitive nature of the textures is claustrophobic and the lighting effects set the mood.

Well I'm glad the game is so small, will download in a very short amount of time.
