Machine Room (cogs?)

I think I lost a cog. I have two in the machine and I was carrying the third one down the stairs when my mouse spazzed out. I was holding it and then it was gone. I don't think I heard it hit anything, and I spent fifteen minutes looking all over for it.

I'm pretty sure it might have gone through a wall, because I honestly have no idea where else it could have gone. I tried restarting the game to see if maybe it would reappear if I did that, but it didn't seem to...

Anyone have any ideas? :\ I really don't want to have to start over.

If you lost the cog, try loading one of your earlier auto-saves. AFAIK, the game gets saved at the beginning of each level. Everything should be in it's default position.
