The operating system name was W2K in a CrashLog file
I only looked at the log file then highlighted this:
Windows OS: Windows 2000
WAS MY OPERATING SYSTEM WINDOWS 2000?! I had Windows 8.1.
Not today, but YESTERDAY.
Find me a solution.
and I will be lucky
The crash was made from MaterialEditor.exe
To win the game, you must kill me, Roozy Rox.

RE: The operating system name was W2K in a CrashLog file
If you are running Windows 8.1, then you are running Windows 8.1, the crash log more or less will always report you are on Windows 2000. 9/10 times though, the operating system you are running will not cause Amnesia to function improperly, rather only determines where your installed content is.
Did your MaterialEditor crash? If so, go to Documents/HPL2/MaterialEditor.log and post its contents here.

RE: The operating system name was W2K in a CrashLog file
It might be that the implementation for getting the OS version is improperly done. Either that or it's not reporting the "version" exactly, but referring to, well what do I call it? The way it's built?
IIRC Windows 2000 was a completely different core version compared to Windows 98, as in they rewrote it from scratch. I don't think they have rewritten Windows since then, just added to it. That might have something to do with it.

I had: C:\Progra~2\Steam\steamapps\Common\Amnesia~1\LogFile.txt, but it's gone... I checked the LOG file, then nothing bad happened...
I report that, if Amnesia does work in W2K, on a DELL computer with new video cards (OpenGL, and ATI Rage display), I could be so happy. If that doesn't work without VIDEO cards, nothing good seems to be happening.

Yes, Amnesia will work on Windows 2000 granted it has a working graphics card that supports OpenGL version 2.1.
