Amnesia demo isn't working

I've downloaded the Amnesia demo from different places, and tried installing it several different times. It won't even start up for me. I'm running an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT on Win Xp. Every time I try to run the game, it crashes even before the start screen and I get this error:

"Amnesia.exe cause an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module Amnesia.exe at 001B:00000000"

I'd love to try and buy the game, but only if I can get the sucker running. Any help would be appreciated.
