Is the Steam version DRM-free?

As the title says, is it DRM-free? Smile

DRM-free, in a sense that it actually doesn't require the Steam client to run properly. Smile

I never tried running it independently, just didn't occur to me. Why would you?

RE: Is the Steam version DRM-free?

If you launch it from the folder it launches steam.

You can run it without an internet connection if that's what you're asking...but you need steam installed to get the steam version of the game. If you don't want steam you could just get it from the Frictional Store...

Batman Arkham Asylum doesn't require steam to run at all even if you bought it on steam, you can just run the .exe from the folder and it doesnt need steam to be open

RE: Is the Steam version DRM-free?

that is because EA games have their own protection system and well...
there's a contract stating that steam can't put their lil security check in that game as well as a few rare others

steam put their security check inside amnesia

I don't understand the reason for this question at all. If you don't want to use steam why not just get the normal version of the game and avoid this "steam" thing (whatever it is) altogether?
