I live in the US, and I would prefer to obtain this fabulous game in a box rather than download. However, I don't want to wait an extra month. Is it possible to import a European copy? Is it legal?

I will look into this and see so the US release date is correct.

As for import it is totally legal but you might get to pay some large custom fees. Dunno if they check merchandise costing $19.99 though.
