This is one of the great mysteries of life - why Americans write dates as month/day/year or year/day/month (don't know if British/Australian/etc people do this too). It's really perplexing to me as Swede.

That said, you've probably made a correct assumption.

Year/month/day makes as much sense as day/month/year, but year/day/month is bizarre and no one I know uses it.
