I get the idea, what about a game by FG with a sad end?
Maybe the protagonist will die for the well of the world or that sad things happen.
I found a song, that gives much impressions of the greatful end (it could be the credits theme).
Shut the eyes ans listen this soundtrack.
Remember a game with a sad end, that you never will forget.
A sad end brings emotions and it will be moving the player.
A happy end is not for a horror game.
What do you mean?
I love this epic music.

Without a proper motive, giving a sad end is just throwing all away.
And 'sad', is not always that protagonist dies. Ever played Prince of Persia 2008?
Evoking emotions needs hard work, carefully built up atmosphere, and a proper motive. There is a chance it can be plain trash, or a legend like Silent Hill 2.

From this point, it's spoiler if you didn't play Penumbra series. Shame on you, if you didn't.

Penumbra series doesn't have any happy ending. Red dies in Overture, Philip dies in Requiem. So, Frictional really needs to do it after just one single game?

Or Daniel dies in Amnesia depending on your ending(Agrippa or bad ending)
In Max Payne 2, everyone else died but the protagonist. It's ironic because Payne had little to live for and even less in the end. Yet he was still alive. That was a sad ending.

Penumbra and Amnesia are sad from the beginning to the end, it's so sad I become sad because of the sadness.
No, really. Next game with an happy end please.
The Penumbra games have sad endings. The endings in Amnesia, while maybe not sad, are at least very bittersweet.
Well, I'm not to concerned with this. I mean, Frictional will make an ending that fits the game and if that is not a sad ending so be it!

I like this music, but I don't think it's sad enough for a sad ending. The music does give me a Middle Eastern vibe.

...is more a "sad ending" song IMO. But maybe its just because I LOVE HANZ ZIMMER!
