However, out in the wild, I'm on their turf, and thus respect them by never going near them.
Jumping spiders are pretty chill, most of them are small, cute and completly harmless and they kill other bugs.

Where do you live exactly? I don't know about North America but in South America (Paraguay at least) large spiders are almost non-existent in urban areas. Before I went there by far my biggest worry was whether I would have to share a room with a family of nefarious looking spiders but I didn't run into any at all, and I'm pretty sure South America has bigger and more dangerous spiders than North America (see: Brazilian wandering spider).

Anyway off topic since everybody seems to be talking about spiders in general, I pretty much agree with Chronofox. They're fascinating creatures and quite cool looking, though I live in Iceland where the largest spiders are about twice the size of a dollar coin, so I don't have to deal with them regularly. I try to avoid them however because I have a minor fear of having things crawl on me, and I have a major fear of putting my hand or fingers in a crevice or hole and touching a spider. I love taking photographs of them from a safe distance though. I have a few if anyone is interested (sorry for the quality):

I do not like the things. Where I live during the summer they tend to all gather up in my basement to avoid the heat and dryness, and because of that I've seen ones verging on turantulas. Once I was watching TV in y basement, and I hear something rustling on the cushion next to me. I look over, and right there is a FUCKING MASSIVE SPIDER HAPF THE SIZE OF MY HEAD AN INCH AWAY FROM MY FOOT. I shat a brick, was not fun. About wolf spiders, we seriously get those 24/7 all over the place. They used to gross me out, but there are so many you just learn to ignore them. Also I have spiders living somewhere around my bed that bite me in my sleep once every few weeks just to fuck with my mind. Yeah I don't like them.
