Penumbra is a great game, even better than Amnesia. It would be a shame to let it stopped.
Why would you play a game searching for something you already know. It's pointless playing as Phillip's brother trying to find out what happened to Phillip, when we already played as Phillip and know what happened..

I think penumbra should only be continued by the frictional games community with like... Amnesia Total Conversions and custom stories.

And Philip did not say he had a brother. At the end:

Philip sent a email to one of his friends, maybe this friend of his would continue the story by doing what Philip asked in the email which was to get rid of everything.
