I'd say it's definitely possible to play a game like this under improper conditions. If you buy a new flavor of potato chips and dip them in soy sauce, your perceptions are going to be colored in a way that can't be blamed on the chips. How many of the reviewers did that is another question. One shouldn't assume that the 6/10 reviewer was playing it in their living room at 3PM with Daft Punk playing.

Something I'm looking forward to at least as much as the game itself is your upcoming additions to your website with all of that lovely AAMFP-related stuff Big Grin

If I can see footage of you yelling into a barbecue lid like we did with Tapio on TDD I'll die a happy man.

If AMFP is less scary than the previous game, but better story-told, perhaps those who think were "unable" to play TDD should be recommended to play this one Smile

Time for another review:

http://indiegames.com/2013/09/amnesia_a_machine_for_pigs.html

"The audio and visual components are AAA quality. The gameplay is a spellbinding blend of exploration, discovery, puzzle solving, and cowering in terror. There's no reason to pass up A Machine for Pigs except for a weak constitution. I've avoided spoilers and I suggest playing the game without learning much else about the plot. It's a hell of an experience."

Another good review, this time from IGN:

8.3/10

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/09/10/amnesia-a-machine-for-pigs-review

"Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs may be a different kind of horror than fans are expecting, but it's an interesting and welcome experiment in gaming terror. Though its sharp fangs of resource management may have been dulled, in place of the swift bite is a deeper, more haunting world that will linger with me much longer than the original. Between the obligatory puzzles is a game that delivers a painfully personal story and some superb psychological horror."

And another good review:

8/10

"All in all, however, the Amnesia experience lives on and A Machine for Pigs proves to be a good successor. Do yourself a favor and forgo the YouTube gameplay videos; Amnesia is a title that is well worth experiencing for yourself."

And yet another good review:

http://www.theweavingknight.com/2013/09/amnesia-machine-for-pigs-review.html

I think that this part of the last paragraph sums things up perfectly (I've put the most important part in bold):

"I cannot in my best judgement recommend a Machine for Pigs to everyone; this is a game that expects and deserves a certain type of audience, not a screaming YouTube generation, but an informed and mature audience. An audience that can understand the underlying literary roots of a Machine for Pigs and the underlying message that the Machine at the centre of this twisted narrative represents."
