Exactly what happens?
it just crashes at the exit when i try going through the door after creating the substance out of the crystal and running away. and no the fix doesnt work. i get nearly exact like hpl log like the creator of this thread.
When applying the patch, can you make sure that the old exe file is overwritten? Could you please tell us the size (in bytes, not kb or mb) of the exe that it crashes on?

Did you install the patch on the Gamers Gate version? Cause that will not work, patch can only be applied to boxed english and german version.
Also, it is really wierd if it crashes on the Gamers Gate version since it is supposed to be fixed.

i will try and buy a boxed version. then i will dl the fix and tell if it works. but telling people what not to do to avoid the crash would be better.
For those that the fix does not work, can you please look up the byte size of the game .exe before and after installing the fix so that we can know for sure that the .exe really is updated.
Which you can see by right-click on penumbra.exe -> properties and then the size in bytes(about 7 or so figures I think)
