explain another likely phenomena that causes billions of stars to converge in the middle of our galaxy, googol. id like to hear that. black holes are real. they're objects with super-mass. they have enough mass to pull light into its grasp. the one in the centre of our universe has a mass of.. roughly 6 billion suns, if i remember correctly.
sure, our sun has a lifespan, and it will die; but thats in 2 billion years and..
..you know what. fuck it. im not even gonna try argue with you..

Exactly. But the universe is a theoretic puzzle, and nobody has seen a black hole yet.
We also know the existence of black energy and anti-materies, but nobody can say what it is. We only know about the existence to let things be as they are.
The world isn`t going to end for many things (That was probably used from other people on here but I`m too lazy to look and see lol.)
The mayan calendar is just like any ordinary calendar, except it ends every 52 years and it just so happens that this calendar ends on 2012.
There are so many "End of the World" theories and it makes it hard to believe that any of this will happen.
The Mayan calendar was made way before the Mayans even heard of leap years. So, the world should have ended a couple of weeks ago.
And, some religious people believe that the world would end in 2012 because of the bible saying the world would end one day but it has no date.
So, the world isn`t going to end. There is only one theory I am going to stick by and that is when the sun will turn into a red planet and suck up all the planets, but that is like billions of years from now.

Even if the world does end, it won't technically "End" It will just change.
yeah... be completely deserted, no live, lava all over the pace, a giant red star about to to turn earth into nothing more then a tiny bright particle of dust in comparison whit the sun, and then the sun becomes nothing more then a white spot smaller then earth... yes it will not "end" but boy it will be a hell of a change! from a wet ball of dirt to dust... this should be in "the ultimate makeover"...

no offense dude but you are failing so much that i really have to play this music while i explain this for you.
First: the Earth is not going to the center of the galaxy because... you do know we are here right?
Second: even if we were going for the center of the galaxy... the sky would probably shine red/ yellow and have thousands of exploding stars around us.... oh and a super massive black hole whit the mass of thousands of stars right about to turn our solar system into nothing more then a small cloud of dust before it is consumed by it!
Third: you obliviously misunderstood what will happen in 21 December 2012. the sun will not be in the center of the galaxy. but the sun will be aligned whit earth and the central black hole of our milky way.
Fourth: "and nobody has seen a black hole yet" that is not true, scientists have managed to have a picture of the Milky way's central black whole wen a star feel in its gravity wheel, creating a huge super heated gas cloud that was big enough to be able to make the black hole's horizon stand out of its nearly invisible shape
note: This picture is not the one i have seen and i doubt it is a real one. but it is close enough to give you an idea on how the picture looked like.
[EDIT] But this one is a legit photo of a black hole.

People seem to be eager about our extinction more than anything else in the universe (except aliens, whom they wish to be violent and the bringers of our extinction). But this can be easily explained as boredom and the pathetically strong-held belief that they will survive the earth succumbing to a blazing inferno. Either through zombie survival smarts or faith in a sandal-wearing hippy, raising them into the sky.
You don't need to play the professor of the universe.
Please read all my posts again, then you'll understand that I NEVER said the Earth will be placed in the center of the galaxy.
And then, nobody has seen a black hole yet. The core of a black hole is not bigger than an apple.
We only know the existence and how they could look like, but NOBODY has seen a black hole!
And the last picture doesn't show an existing black hole. You should know it is so many lightyears away that nobody can make a photo of the existence. It's just the light! A black hole is simply too small.
And such pictures are easy to fake and/ or optical illusions. We also can see stars that already don't exist anymore.
If the picture is real, it only shows the magnetic field lines and the accretion disc of a black hole. The black hole itself is only some centimeters big and COMPLETELY black. It will swallow any kind of light.

A black hole is a star that don't exist anymore...
Regarding the size of the core of a black hole, there's no actual limit to it. And sure, we can't see the core, but there's more to a black hole then just the central singularity, there's the event horizon that also comes in various sizes. It's impossible to take a photo of the central singularity but thanks to radiation emitted from gases in the event horizon we can see the black hole as a whole. Astronomers have also been able to take photos and photo sequences of stars and planets colliding with black holes and by it been able to determine the size and shape of diferent black holes.
So what you want to say is that nobody have actually seen the central singularity of a black hole
