Hello Mac Users!

I'm am nearing completion of a Patch for Penumbra: Overture for Mac OS X. What I need is a few more Beta Testers with a variaty of systems.

If you own a copy of Penumbra: Overture for Mac OS X and would like to test please post a message here with your Mac system details.

Please include the following information

  • Version of OS X (10.4.11, 10.5.2)

  • ATI HD graphics Issues (for all the new iMacs out there)
  • Crashes on Leopard
  • Wide screen resolution fixes

OS X 10.5.2
I have Leopard Graphics Update Installed
QWERTY Keyboard

Note: I love the game but just can't get it to run without crashing. When I run it with AA ON I get mirrored imaging, PIP popups in the top left corner, and half of all in game overlay graphics missing (inventory, notebook, writing). With it off these troubles go away but the game will periodically crash. My computer is running fine and I can run pretty beefy games on this baby. I've tweaked out all settings from turning the res down and disabling everything. the problem isn't there.

Having support for wide screen would be awesome. I wondered if this is part of the problem. The Mac doesn't like anything that's not native.

Why can't I save anywhere in the game? I have to run sometimes and don't need to be starting over all the time. Espically in adventure games it can be a drag.

I hope your patch fixes my issues. I'm currently on deployment in theater right now and found your game online. I don't have much times for games but I am still trying to enjoy yours. You guys seem to be running a team that has great customer support and that's something I haven't seen in a while.

Thanks again.

OK.. Everyone thanks for your interest in beta testing. I'll be sending each of you a PM with information on how to download the beta patch. There are two things that you are testing..

One is the patch utility that I wrote (if any one knows of a good cheap/free Mac OS X patch installer let me know). The only issue I know the installer DOES have is I haven't added in the priviledge code so that a non-admin user can patch a copy of Penumbra installed in the system /Applications folder by entering an admin username/password. I will get that changed before the final patch release.

And of course the game. The only thing I have NOT addressed of known issues is the keyboard issue. you will HAVE to run using a "US" qwerty layout. The problem is, unfortunately much more involved that I had originally thought so it will take me more time to get it resolved cleanly. Please put all feed back on this forum thread and DO NOT SHARE the access to the beta. I plan on getting intense feedback from you 5 users this week and releasing the final patch end of the week. so Provide feedback!.
