Making models for Amnesia with Maya 2013

Making models for Amnesia with Maya 2013

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to make models with Maya 2013 but I have no clue on how to get it into amnesia since I haven't managed to find any decent export tools.
Any help? Angel

You need to downgrade to 2011. OpenCollada is not supported for 1012 and up.

.ma files are usually compatible with older Maya versions, as long as you didn't use any fancy features the older version doesn't have. (Maya may give you a warning but in most cases it will still open the file without problems) .mb files, however, are not. Smile

I'd advise exporting an .obj and a .fbx to be on the safe side.

BTW, I have a quick question, too: those people which have successfully created custom animated characters (with bones, and rig) - what version of Maya were they using? 2011? Lower?
Cause HPL2 seems to be picky about the exact format...

Quick question. Is Maya the only program that can work with Amnesia? Can I use Blender, cinima4D or 3DStudioMax?

2011 should work fine, so long as you know what you're doing.

I don't know about Cinema4D, but Blender and 3DS Max work fine with Amnesia. I hear Max's animation is wonky when it comes to HPL2, but Maya seems to work fine, so long as you do the rigging and export correctly. (follow tutorials listed above). All import models fine, but when it comes to animation, it is told that Maya works best. I, personally, use Maya for everything. =]

Wow, thanks! Those tutorials are amazing - I can only imagine how long it took that guy to figure it all out through trial and error. There's a bunch of peculiar requirements there, so the effort really commands respect.
P.S. I find it strange no one put that on the wiki.
