Penumbra wont start

Hi all
Recently i have been having problems with penumbra black plague on steam. Whenver i click on play the message box comes up saying loading black plage, then the box disappears and nothing happens, the game does not load. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but that has not changed anything.
I would be gratefull for any help

Sorry but i'm probably not as experienced with computers as you are, could you tell me what hpl.log is

Go to documents/penumbra/Black Plague/ and there should be your HPL.log

I seem to be struggling to find it atm

Try running the game again to create a new HPL.log file

Keep in mind that HPL.log usually looks like a text file
