I pirate abandonware, so I guess it's not technically pirating?

Really? I find pirating easier than dealing with real copies recently - DRM is bullshit. I've stopped pirating most games because the game industry is in a shitty state, game devs are unpaid and overworked, and the only way I can change things is with my wallet.

If you've owned them before then it's not illegal to download them, y'know.

I love how people are trying to say pirating games from large companies is marginally better than pirating a game by a smaller indie company. Both of them have developers that work on the video game unfortunately some of you in this thread seem to think they magically pull these games from out their ass and put it on the shelves of GameStop or Steam nope they are made first by people. Putting aside whether the game was good or not the game itself still has to be made.

That's why people use cracked servers or use hamachi. Both are extraordinarily easy to use.

Because pirating is become to complicated for me and I'd rather just pay the price instead of messing about with programs and stuff, and also because the games I've bought recently has been games I've waited for a long time e.g. Skyrim or SCII-HotS.
Actually a reason why some people turn to piracy is because it is easier than dealing with a legitimate copy. I will admit in the past I have pirated and it wasn't really that hard. Now? I try not to pirate as much.
