RE: Fantastic Anti-piracy Statement
My opinion:
I have a pirated Painkiller: Black Edition. It's a really cool game, and I have even added it as a non-steam game so people know I play it. But trust me, Painkiller is worth buying, but I haven't paid for it (yet).
What I mean is that I only download some games I want to play because:
1) I hate the company
2) I'm just going to try it out
3) I think it's too expensive
Usually 3) wins.
The terrible system in the actuality (selling a half-made game and then selling DLC's as gold) is pure shit. I consider pirating sometimes worth for:
1) Fighting evil companies
2) Keep my bucket with something I have almost nothing D:
So, I try not to download but if the case fits, I do. Imma not gonna pay 30€ for Skyrim or 55€ for Bioshock infinite.
I'll confess: I first pirated Amnesia, but then I bought it when it was on discount. That made me feel better.
THE OTHERWORLD (WIP)
Aculy iz dolan.

RE: Fantastic Anti-piracy Statement
I have to admit I pirated Amnesia originally as well, but only to see if my laptop would run it. Thankfully I've upgraded since then and I actually waited until it wasn't on sale to buy it full price to show my appreciation of it.

RE: Fantastic Anti-piracy Statement
I'm sure there are people who've pirate Amnesia and have not bought a copy. Most people are smart enough not to get caught however I think maybe Frictional Games should have something like Steam account linking. Where you link your account and you can simply check to see if the person actually owns it or not. The issue with that is some people bought a retail copy or don't use Steam.

Another reason is that it's completely absurd, not to mention disrespectful to the customer.

It's not absurd if a company wants to protect its product.
Since when did protecting your creation become inappropriate? the Steam profile linking thing is helpful for weeding out pirates who don't deserve customer support.

If someone wants to pirate the game they are completely within their right to do so. Why should legitimate customers suffer for their actions?

Because logging in through Steam is so terribly hard and makes people suffer? nope not really. The legitimate customer can play the game with no issues and people who didn't buy the game get no support.
