I doubt they do, but it never hurts to think about it.

In the tech. demo remember the garage area? if you used the "examine tool" (the little eye where you can right click to get a description) he says that it's an elevator to get out or something like that.

At the very end when you escape why would you be going to level 2 (deeper in the facility) if you're leaving?

If you recall the whole goal is to ESCAPE so why would you go deeper down and not try to go back to the garage area and maybe get that elevator to work?

Again, this demo was made to demonstrate the HPL engine. Don't try to find a true meaning/story behind it. About the hunter, there have been "extensive" discussions in the past about it. Search the Penumbra forum about it.

If it was a demo. then why did they have a story to begin with?

I thought the point of a tech. demo was to demonstrate the physics and graphics capability of the engine/game.

RE: Penumbra 1.1 (Tech. Demo) Ending Questions

It's a real shame FG removed the tech demo section of the forum, many great and interesting discussions were held there, anyways I think the reason the tech demo had a story was simply because it was a very rough draft of todays penumbra, I also think that the whole tech build was not released as evidenced in some files, (I believe the first level's script file mentions the previous level which isn't ingame.) either way i doubt we will ever see past the ending unless FG decides to release the "Full Tech Demo" or if one even exists. (Although it would be cool if one exists.) I believe thomas made a blog post that had several videos of the Alpha version of HPL1 which had the hunter mesh in a level showcased in the video. TBH the early versions of penumbra are the most interesting and mysterious things ive seen, If only WindexGlow was still active here...

*Wishes Penumbra Tech Demo section would return*
