Attaching a hatch to door

Hey everyone!

I decided I wanted to try attaching a hatch to a door so that it can sort of serve as a means to peek on what's on the other side.

I've set up the door and the hatch like this
Spoiler below!

HOWEVER, when I pull on the door, the hatch stops it from moving, seeing as they collide. Is there a way I can connect them so that they move together, but also still have their own properties? (Like, I can move the hatch without opening the door).

Thanks!

Btw: I'll fix the hatch size and texture later. Want to see if I can get this working first :3

You say you're gonna fix the size of it later.... But maybe the size is the actual problem.

Trying is the first step to success.

They appear attached, but are not attached per se Tongue
Like, if I pull on the prison door, it won't move because the hatch is there.

Anyway, I did fix the sizes now Tongue This is how it looks now, still with the problem.

1st is looking attached, second is when the door is not attached to the hatch, but pulled back against it, because they collide, stopping the player's progress. The hatch doesn't move with the door, which is what I want.

Oh, I just remembered, give the mount of the hatch physics, It doesn't have them by default, it's static.

You can do that by model editor.

EDIT: And just for the test, attach only the body of the mount to the door.
But do that by your own risk, I do not know what could happen.
Can't guarantee it won't explode.

Well, the Model Editor quits itself with a 50% gathered black box when I import the .dae into the model editor while one of the doors are there it seems, with both the 1.2 and 131111 tools.

Might leave it for now, but feel free to drop other suggestions!

You can also modify the .ent file by text editor, Add a line of code that contains info of gravity or physics, under body section which does not have it already.
You can find those lines by inspecting bodies which seem to have them.

RE: Attaching a hatch to door

I think I'll upload the the hatch with mount physics here, so there's no over complexcity. Just a sec.

EDIT: Here it is.
Add it to /redist/entities/doors/hatch_ceiling

And use this, instead of what you have currently attached.
If you're gonna do my test I mentioned earlier, attach "frame" not "hatch_ceiling",
"frame" is the bodyname.
