We know that Depth takes place in the
same universe of SOMA and that it is to be released
congruently with the game, which further suggests that the two are closely related.
If we tie together all the information that has been revealed about the game and the films in the last year and a half, Depth seems to serve as a prologue for SOMA (i.e. the events in Depth seem to precede what will happen in SOMA), so it would make more sense to watch the film before playing the game. This is how I see it at least.

I'm curious if the brief music we heard in the song.vid clip reflects his take on appropriate music for SOMA itself and if it will be similar to what we will hear in-game.
Currently unconfirmed, but in July 2014 I found the website of
Alex Mauer while sleuthing the web for Depth-related information (he's a composer that works closely with Imagos Films and is also
Imagos Softworks co-founder/composer/sound designer), and Depth was mentioned in his
resumé under "Selected Credits (film/video)", but when I checked it again a few weeks later, Depth was no longer listed there.
Here's a capture of his website from the 8th of June 2014:

But, officially, it remains unconfirmed.
