I think they may be trying to tell us some info from the image (maybe the whirlpool/maelstrom) is redundant and not usable.

This alludes to the fact that we may be working with a char corresponding to each image.

This would mean some c2i (char2img) data is redundant, with an image similar to one of the eight we have below.
Edit:
Also, since people were interested in this kind of thing yesterday, the description near the maelstrom reads something like: "Here is the horrible Charybdis"
Charybdis was a whirlpool thought by Greeks to be a sea monster.
OK, here are possible names for each image:
1. Stargazer, Uranoscopidae
2. Yak, Bos grunniens
3. Cathode, hydrogen, argon
4. Clam worm, Alitta succinea
5. Frictional
6. Whirlpool/Maelstrom/Charybdis/<nothing>
7. Xerosis
8. Janus
4chan thought that the "lo" in each image meant that the characters should be lowercase.
Another complication: would this be a YouTube url, or a login/password for
the console?
There does seem to be a lot of Greek going on (Uranos, Argos, Charybdis, Xeros, Janus).
