Yeah, an Ark is always talked about like Noah in most "end of the world" movies. Given what I've heard about the setting it does seem like something that'd fit. I'm excited about the prospects though for how something like that will be play into things.

Hmm, nice theory, really eager to find the answers in the game.

That might be correct, but the Overture installer is smaller.
I don't have Overture on Steam, I have the retail CD with the setup.exe on it and it's just 350 MB. Included multilingual voice synchro!

No! It's from the official retail version.

Even "Overture" sounds creepy in German.

Best thing? That's not even Overture in german. In the case of gaming I think something like Einleitung or Vorspiel would be the fitting translation.
Im Halbschatten (funnily enough) is In Penumbra

Oh, pardon my ignorance. Despite having like 9 years of German totally at school, I know literally nothing in it XD

You are absolutely correct Googolplex. Compressed size was always what was discussed and you joined in with the correct compressed sizes of the old games for comparison. Steam uses compressed files, and the unpacks them after download.

So the nice thing to take from this debate: Amnesia ≈ 1GB compressed, SOMA ≈ 11GB compressed. The sound folder alone is larger in SOMA than the whole game folder of Amnesia. There is quite a lot more stuff in SOMA compared to anything we released before!

That's cool stuff Jens, thanks for sharing!

Do you happen to recall what A Machine For Pigs' size was? I would imagine TheChineseRoom added a lot to that game since there were so many assets and sounds that they custom made for it.

Still, pretty huge contrast between Amnesia and SOMA. I cannot even guess how much audio assets must be in this game to make its size alone bigger than one of the older games.

I think it was 2.4GB, but had unused assets from the original Amnesia game. I'm guessing 1.5-2.0GB if you removed old assets not used, aamfp really does have very little content from the original game!
